

This perennial crop otherwise known as bitter leaf in many African countries has great medicinal and nutritional values. While the leaf can be eaten as food, the phytochemicals found in Ewuro is said to inhibit, reverse or retard diseases caused by oxidative and inflammatory processes.
Extracts of this plant has been used in traditional African medicines as remedies against gastrointestinal disorder, parasites, worms and bacterial infections. Scientific evidence also shows that extracts of Ewuro can be used as an anti-carcinogenic agent.
