

The wild mango tree is a typical tropical tree common to West Africa. The leaves, fruit, and seed of this plant has both nutritional and medicinal use. The leaf combined with two other certain leaves is macerated to aid in the treatment of gonorrhea. While the fruit produces nutritional juice, the seed also called Apon by the Yourba people of Nigeria and Ogbono by the Igbo people of Nigeria is used in making an aromatic soup. Furthermore, the seed of igi oro have been reported to have medicinal values including as an antioxidant, antidiabetic, and supports weight loss.
