Urinalysis is a test of urine. It is often done to check for a urinary tract infection, kidney problems or diabetes.

It is a test that examines urine to detect and diagnose various conditions.

Purpose

1.To check for the presence of substances that shouldn’t be in urine, such as blood, protein, glucose, or bacteria

2.To screen for conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, urinary tract infections, and liver problems

3.To monitor the effectiveness of treatments for certain conditions

  • 1.Visual examination: The color, clarity, and odor of the urine are observed.
  • 2.Dipstick test: A strip of paper with chemicals on it is dipped into the urine to detect the presence of substances such as blood, protein, glucose, and bacteria.
  • 3.Microscopic examination: A sample of urine is examined under a microscope to look for red blood cells, white blood cells, bacteria, and other abnormal cells or particles.
